In 2021 and in 2022 the LVVA Ice Fishing Derby went virtual and we had a huge success letting fishermen fish all night! Download the FishDonkey App and look us up. In 2023, The Derby was cancelled. In 2024 we’ll be running the Derby the same way!!
The 2024 derby with will be on January 26-28, 2024.
We will have a 1pm start time on Friday the 26th and an end time of 1pm on the 28th.
All the rules of the Derby will be in the FishDonkey App. The App automatically culls fish for you.
All fish must be caught on Bang’s Lake only. The FishDonkey App takes the photo, it is timestamped and GPS tells us your location.
Entrants must have valid Illinois fishing license.
As per ILDNR rules, this is a catch and release derby.
Fish will be judged by length only in 6 fish species categories: Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Crappie, Bluegill, Walleye, and Perch.
The Organizers of LVVA retain the right to amend or insert rules up until the event.
Wauconda shanty fees are waived for the entire weekend if entered in the Derby.
Snowmobiles must be registered and insured as per IL law.
ATV/UTV must be insured as per IL law.
